NeoGraft® – Your Questions Answered

Q. What sort of results can I expect from a NeoGraft transplant?

A. NeoGraft® procedure creates a natural-looking hairline, though individual results vary. Some of the factors that impact results include a patient’s age, stage of hair loss, the donor- site, and the number of grafts required.

Although you will be able to see your newly implanted follicles, and thus new hairline, immediately after the NeoGraft® procedure, the full results won’t be visible for 9-12 months. However, you will be able to enjoy watching your hairline grow back naturally week-by-week in the intervening period as the full effect develops and your new healthy hair grows.

Q. Is the NeoGraft® Solution Suitable for Everyone?

A. Yes, men and women of all ages have benefited from the NeoGraft® procedure. One of the best things you can do to achieve the results you are looking for, is to not delay in making an appointment with Dr Holman. Although, it is never too late, the sooner you start implementing your solutions, the better your results.

Q. How long will the results from a NeoGraft® transplant last?

A. During a NeoGraft® hair transplant, Dr Holman will extract hair that is resistant to hair loss from your designated donor site. The implants are then used as grafts into the areas you want treated, where they will gradually regrow as healthy, fully functioning hairs. These new hairs will be highly resistant to hair loss and therefore grow permanently at their new site.

Your natural non-grafted hair may however continue to fall out at its regular physiological rate. Ongoing medication and Barbering and Hairdressing services from our award winning in- house salon will help monitor this, however, when/if the new hair loss becomes a concern, there is the option of further NeoGraft® transplants or mini NeoGraft transplants.

Q. What are the risks with a NeoGraft® transplant at The Medical Hair Institute?

A. As NeoGraft® is a minimally invasive treatment, it is considered ‘very low-risk’, but you can rest assured that Dr Holman will always adhere to the strictest medical safety protocols. The most common complication (although it is extremely rare) requiring intervention, is a minor infection at the donor or graft sites. This however can be treated with a course of antibiotics.

Possible other complications (less than 1% risk) may include minor bleeding and swelling, a temporary headache, or temporary numbness to the treated scalp. These and other possible complications will be discussed with you at length during your consultation with Dr Holman and his team.

As an additional precaution as part of the routine protocol for your procedure, you will be prescribed a course of prophylactic antibiotics by Dr Holman at your initial consultation to start the day before your procedure.

Q. Is a NeoGraft® transplant at The Medical Hair Institute guaranteed to work?

A. The outcomes of medical/aesthetic procedures can never be guaranteed as there are too many unknown variables between individuals’ anatomy and physiology. Nevertheless, NeoGraft® has proven its effectiveness for thousands of men and women since its launch in 2009.

Dr Holman can confidently say that NeoGraft® creates a full natural-looking hair replacement for the vast majority of hair loss patients. Although individual results vary (depending on the patient’s age, stage of hair loss, size and quality of donor-site, number of grafts, etc.), most patients report that they ‘look more like they used to’.

NeoGraft® leaves no linear scar like other hair transplant methods. In Dr Holman’s opinion, a successful hair transplant does much more than just replace lost hair – it replaces the confidence and self-esteem that have been lost with the hairs. No one knows the impact hair loss has had on your life, and continues to have on your life, more than you.

Q. Is the NeoGraft® Procedure Painful?

A. Most patients find the NeoGraft® procedure entirely tolerable. Dr Holman will discuss with you during your initial consultation what strategies can be used to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible for you.
